Hi Bree! Thank you so much for sitting down with us to have a chat today! We’ve been massive fans of yours for a long time now, always enraptured by your little family! In your Instagram bio, you say ‘family is life’ - who do you consider to be your family, and why is that such an important, personal mantra to you? Thank you so much for having me and for the beautiful bunch of flowers. Once I became a Mum to my first child Isabella, my whole life changed. I said goodbye to the young, childish, insecure but carefree and kid-free version of myself and welcomed the love, growth, and responsibility motherhood entails. Becoming a Mother has shown me the true purpose of my life. That purpose is the love and empowerment my family gives me. My husband and daughters continue to help me grow into the best version of myself and I am so grateful for them. My husband and I have grown so much as a team and we strive to raise our daughters into confident, empowered women like they have helped me become. My family has changed my life and in return I strive to give them my all each and every day. My family are my life!! Parenting on little girl can be brilliant, amazing, powerful, exciting and at times exhausting - what is is like raising two little girls? Where do you draw inspiration from in your parenting? It is definitely ALL those things and more! Coming from a big family I never imagined my children not having siblings. But my gosh once you have that second child you are really pushed to your limits. Unimaginable exhaustion and stress. But also, unimaginable love! Welcoming Daisy into our lives has grown the love we share as a family to new levels I never thought was possible. Parenting two girls has given me a new respect for patience and strength. Being a Mum of two can be an emotional roller coaster at times and parenthood can be scary business. I want to be the best Mum to my daughters and lead a good example (which can be extremely hard some days). I strive each and every day to raise my daughters to be loving, kind, and confident. My inspiration for this comes mainly from my own Mum who raised 5 children. All of us have grown into adults who prioritise family, love and kindness. We are all very close and have a strong bond. I hope with all my heart my girls will share the same close bond and it fills my heart with so much joy watching them already growing into the best of friends. What is the most rewarding part of being Isabella & Daisy’s Mum? The most rewarding part of being a mum is the insane amount of love that continues to grow inside of me each day. Each time I hear ‘I love you’ from Isabella or get a sloppy kiss from Daisy my heart just melts (and at their age it’s about a million times a day). I love watching them play and grow, and their personality shining through. I love being their safe place. The person they can always count on to give them unconditional love. They are so innocent at this age and as a Mum and Dad you are their whole world. You approach to instagram is real and fresh, in-fact all of us in the office follow you on our personal accounts! How do you keep the gorgeous content that you produce feeling new and true to who you are and your family? Aww thank you. I love taking photos of my girls and I think if you are doing something you love and enjoy, it really shows through your work. Before I started creating Instagram content, I was always taking photos to keep as memories. Instagram for me is a hobby, a space I can be creative and have fun with my girls. We often play games like ‘Simon says’ to create the content and we always have music on to dance to. I try to let my girl’s and my personality’s show through my content. All mama’s need to rest every now and then - parenting, as much as it is rewarding, is also a full time job! How to you take some time out to recharge, what fills your cup? What fills my cup? Definitely wine! Wine and Netflix is my chill out time once the girls have gone to bed. And finally, what is your favourite Miann & Co product? My favourite Miann & Co item at the moment would have to be the Bubble Bobble Knit cardigan, it’s a perfect layer for winter. However, my all-time favourite would have to be the Dahlia Pink Tint dress. I love this dress as it’s easy to throw on, always looks great, and feels so comfortable. I am always questioned about the brand of the dress every time I wear it, and that’s a lot!

Being a small business, we always source our own models. When we first met Eliza Gude and her munchkin, Matilda, we instantly connected. A creative kindred spirit, passionate mother and just an insanely nice person - we sat down to chat with Lize to celebrate Mother's Day and all things women! Hi Eliza! Thank you so much for sitting down to have a chat with us. We first met at a photoshoot with your gorgeous daughter, Tilly, who has recently just celebrated her 1st birthday. What has your first year of motherhood been like? Thank you for asking me to be a part of your Mothers Day Campaign! My first year of motherhood has been the most fulfilling, exhausting, exciting, crazy year I have ever had. It really is true what they say about the love you feel for your child is like no other, I have days where I am so exhausted, haven’t showered, hardly slept and napping is apparently not on Matilda’s radar, but the minute she smiles at me, it makes it all worth it. This past year has truly been the most amazing year with my little family. That first year, at least in my case, felt like it went so quick and so slow all at once - you're constantly learning and evolving and changing with your baby. What have been the biggest lessons you've learnt this year? I couldn’t agree more, the minute you think you have a good routine down pat they’re in a new leap, teeth start coming through or sleep times change, its always something! I think the biggest lesson I’ve learnt this year is to just follow Tilly’s lead. I’ve learnt that the more I try to plan and stick to strict routines with sleep times etc she usually resists and we both end up unhappy so its best to follow her cues - which has worked really well for us! I was raised by a young mum, she was 20 when she had me and faced a lot of scrutiny for choosing to start her family so young. What hardships have you faced raising Tilly so young, and how have you overcome them? I have been super lucky to not really have had anyone say anything nasty towards me and my choice to have Tilly so young (at least not to my face!) Matilda was a surprise for my partner and I, but our choice to raise her was the best decision we ever made - she lights up our world like nothing else! However having a baby so young definitely does not come without it’s difficulties - the same as having a baby at any age. I think being a young mum you are often categorised and people make assumptions about you which can be disheartening, but my only focus is Matilda and my family so I don’t feed into it too much as I know I am the best mum I can be. On the side, you run your own candle and ceramics business - @wrenandsagecreative & @elizajane.ceramics - have you always been a creative soul and what inspired you to start your own hustle? Yes I definitely have! Ive always had some sort of creative outlet - creating keeps me inspired, happy and most of all sane! Im a very driven, ambitious person so without a creative outlet I would go a bit nutty haha! I started Wren and Sage Creative when I was pregnant and it started out as just custom illustrations which has now grown into illustrations, candles, selling my ceramics and I will start stocking other creative’s work soon! I always knew I wanted to be my own boss so I could spend as much time as possible at home with Matilda. So when I started creating and people became interested in what I was making I decided to go with it! Your designs are stunning, I think I need one of everything for my home! Where did you love of creating and making things comes to life come from? Oh thank you so much! My grandmother was a very creative, talented artist and I think a lot of my creativity came from her! I remember playing with plasticine and creating figurines when I stayed at her house as a young girl and absolutely loving it! My older brother is also super creative so I think it was sort of engrained in me from a young age! Sometimes motherhood and owning your own business, especially when you have a one year old, can seem all consuming - how do you take time out for yourself and fill your cup? This is a hard one as I spend most of my ‘me-time’ making ceramics because it is what I love to do and I find it quite therapeutic, but it is also my job so I often find myself working on orders at 12am when Matilda is fast asleep which is definitely not a good habit! So outside of that I like to have a bath which is extremely rare and a nap when I can (its the little things - right?)
Our favourite past time, and the place we love to spend the most of our holidays at is the beach. There's something so soothing and beautiful about the ocean, the crashing of the waves and never ending skyline, it's the perfect place to get lost and relax. If you're after a little escape with the kids these holidays, or a weekend away with friends or loved ones, two of our favourite places to get away are in our local region - Barwon Heads & Johanna Beach. Barwon Heads is where the coast meets small town, village living. With a bustling main street and mouth of the mouth of the Barwon River opening up to the ocean, it's the perfect mix of river and beach - just choose what activity you want to do that day. A few of our favourite places to hit up are Annie's Provedore in the morning - for brunch, coffee and picking up a few of our favourite things that aren't readily available at supermarkets. Strolling around the streets and checking out the shops. Come the afternoon, it's time to hit the beach but don't forget to grab some fish & chips from the local! Then, to top off the day head to the picturesque At the Heads restaurant for a wonderful dining experience before heading off to bed. A day at the heads is perfect for a family day out - spend your time eating well and beach hopping, utter bliss! If you're looking for a sleepier, more relaxing getaway, we could not recommend our favourite place enough. And that place? Johanna Beach. About a two hour drive from the Geelong CBD is the sleepy little hamlet of Lavers Hill - and to it's south, our favourite beach in all of Victoria. Stepping out onto Johanna Beach is to find a little slice of paradise. Surrounded by rolling hills and sand dunes, Johanna is host to giant, almost pre-historic feeling rocks and it's so wonderfully silent. For kilometres, all you can hear is the beautiful crashing of waves and the call of seagulls - utter bliss after the bustling of city life. Johanna Beach isn't really a swimming beach, but if you're a fan of surfing it's perfect. Pitch an umbrella and relax in the soothing ambience and have a picnic with friends and family. When you're done bathing in the sun, head back up to Lavers Hill and find a beautiful meal at the NouriShed, or the Tiny Village - what a dream! We'd love to know where your favourite places are to visit in the holidays! All our love, Miann & Co x
The long of the night, the ice of the wind. The mountains that quake beneath blankets of white. Of frosted lips and warm hands. The Earth slumbers, our hearts wander. Seeking warmth, seeking sun. We nestle, we nurture, we wait - until the sun shows it's face once more. Because when Winter's Call sounds, we return to simplicity. To the land, to each other. We curl by the fireplace, we drink in the warmth and wait for the songbirds sound again. Winter has always been our very favourite. Long summer days come and go, as does Spring - but with the turning of the leaves and the greying of the clouds, we feel at home. At peace. Winter truly does call to us. With our winter hearts, we designed this collection to warm yours. To be the pieces that keep you cosy on the coldest of days, to be the pieces you turn to when the icy chill of the wind becomes too much. We hope this new collection brings you comfort, cosiness and above all, warmth. All our love, Miann & Co x
Winter sings, loud and true. A call that runs through our bones, beckoning us home, commanding us to rest. We heed it's call as the days grow shorter, grow colder. When the earth is covered in frost, we watch from our windows, warmed by the hearth and curled around one another. We gather round the fire, clasping warm drinks, clasping each other. To keep warm, to keep close, till the first glimpses of Spring arrive once more. When Winter's call sounds the word grows still, so that one day it can thrive and flourish again. When designing a new range, we always have to think ahead - which is easier said than done when we were deep in a second lockdown in September last year. We were at the ends of our tethers, struggling and trying our hardest to get through what had been the hardest time in our lives. But through it all, we managed to find hope. We found hope in looking ahead, not just to Summer - but to a life that was pandemic free, to a life returned normal, to when we could see our families again. That's where Winter's Call was born. Stunning, natural fibre knits to keep your little one warm for what we're sure we'll be a cold, but happy, grateful and ecstatic winter season. All our love, Miann & Co x
Our most beloved Easter tradition is the Hot Cross Bun. Toasted, warm, slathered in butter and paired with a cup of tea - doesn’t that sound like a little slice of heaven? This recipe is tried and true. We use it year in, year out - and over the years we’ve been a little more experimental with our added fillings, after all, not everyone likes dried fruit! In place of fruit, some things we’ve found that work well are chocolate chips, smashed up mini eggs, or even white chocolate if you’re that way inclined! Without further adieu, here’s our favourite recipe! Recipe for Fruit Hot Cross Buns Makes 12 Prep time 2.25 hours Cooking time 25 minutes For the Buns: • 4 cups plain flour • 14g dried yeast • 1/4 cup caster sugar • 1 & 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice • A pinch of salt • 1 & 1/2 cups currants (optional, can be replaced with chocolate) • 40g butter • 300ml milk • 2 eggs, lightly beaten For the Flour Paste: • 1/2 cup plain flour • 4 to 5 tablespoons waterFor the Glaze: • 1/3 cup water • 2 tablespoons caster sugar Method Preheat oven to 190°C or 170˚C fan-force. Combine flour, yeast, sugar, mixed spice, salt and currants (or chocolate) in a large bowl. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add milk. Heat for 1 minute, until lukewarm. Add milk mixture and eggs to the flour mixture. Stir until combined. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for 10 minutes, or until dough is smooth. Place into a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm, draught-free place for 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours, or until dough doubles in size. Once proved, line a large baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Punch dough down to its original size. Knead for 30 seconds on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Divide into 12 even portions. Shape each portion into a ball. Place balls onto lined tray, about 1cm apart. Cover with plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm, draught-free place for 30 minutes, or until buns double in size. Flour paste: Mix flour and water together in a small bowl until smooth, adding more water if paste is too thick. Spoon it into a small snap-lock bag. Snip off 1 corner of bag. Pipe flour paste over tops of buns to form crosses, or if you're feeling a little creative whatever shape you like! Bake the buns for 20 to 25 minutes, or until buns are cooked through. Glaze: Place water and sugar into a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil. Boil for 3-4 minutes. Brush warm glaze over warm hot cross buns. Serve warm with butter If you and your family make these, be sure to tag us in your pictures! All our love, Miann & Co
The leaves slowly start to burn and curl, turning russet and gold and marking the shift of the season. The winds turn cold, and the nights colder. We sit beside crackling fires and drink in the warmth, nestle hot toddy's and squeeze our little one's closer. With the turn to Autumn, we welcome in the Cosy Season. Plant based knits are our bread and butter - they're what we started with, and what continue to be our most popular products with our little team and our community. So when the colder season rolls around, we get just as excited as you do to slip into some new knits, and get our children cosy. Just like every year, our new collection Cosy Season is laden with fabulous, comfy and soft knits your little one won't want to take off - like our much loved Texture Rib Leggings, a non-stop classic year in, and year out. We've upped the ante on our jumpers this year with four new styles and a crowd favourite is back again - just in a new and improved way - the Rainbow Jumper! We always get asked for this piece and the love for it just keeps growing. Our Knit Tees have quickly become a staple for our daughter, and the children of our community - for the trans-seasonal period they come in four new colour ways with matching Knit Bike Shorts. We're absolutely in love with these matching sets! For outerwear this season, we've created two gorgeous Knit Cardigans in our new colour ways, Cloud & Clove. These are gorgeous gender neutral pieces to match back with everything in the collection. And of course, it wouldn't be a new drop without beanies. This year we have nine new colours across two styles that honestly look impossibly cute on all children. We hope you love this collection! We've waited a long time to release this and are so happy it's finally here. All our love, Miann & Co x
She is the passing of seasons. Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn. She embraces the past, she learns, she draws on her inner strength to nourish and rejuvenate. She acknowledges her history, thinking not of the pain but the lessons, the journey, her strength. And through it all, she rises. She is a celebration of resilience. Of power. She is the sun in all her glory as time turns to the the calm blanket of the frost. She keeps the light with her, bright and burning, lighting her way and the way of those around her. She is strength, fierce love, nurture and nature. She is Rise. Our newest collection, Rise features 100% plant based fibres - beautiful, luxuriously soft cottons for relaxing at home and in the streets, just add your favourite trench coat. Designed with people and planet in mind, Rise features flattering silhouettes, sustainable and biodegradable fibres in timeless cuts - a fresh update for all wardrobes. Comfy has never looked so good. If you were a fan of our loungewear last season, you'll adore this collection. We've reinvigorated our much loved Chloe Pants in 6 new season colours - stunning neutrals and a punch of colour from our new shade Petal. To accompany the pants, we've redesigned our Rory Jumpers with a more comfortable neckline in the exact same colours. For lovers of our Charlie Pants, we've upgraded them and made them longer for the colder months with our new style Clementine Pants. To match back, we've designed a new shape - a stunning v-neck jumper called Rhiannen. Extra cosy comfort comes in terms of our Oakley Cardigan - with two neutral shades and a bold, bright Blush, we loved these paired with jeans and even over dressed with boots for a dressier look. Rise is one of our favourite collections to date, and one that we hope you love as much as we have designing and styling it! All our love, Miann & Co
As a parent, you always want the best for your little one. The best food, the best environments and the best clothing. For us, ensuring the best when it comes to clothing means GOTS Certified Organic Cotton. GOTS is a textile production certification that limits the use of toxic bleaches, dyes and other chemical inputs during the production process. It is internationally recognised as the toughest organic textile standard because it goes far beyond verifying the organic farming process to include every step of manufacturing. When we say every step, we mean every step. From farming, to the mill, to the manufacturer, every step of the garment processed is analysed to ensure the workers and the environment are being respected. To obtain the GOTS certification, a product must: Contain at least 95% organic fibre Not be treated with bleach, formaldehyde or any other toxic substances Be coloured with nontoxic dyes Be produced in a mill that enforces strict social and environmental standards, treating their employees and the earth with deep respect. The main benefits of organic materials, however, is that the crops aren’t treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's). These toxins are harmful to both our planet and also us! If you wouldn't eat it, why would you wear it on your body? Designing our latest Basics range with GOTS Organic Cotton was a no-brainer. These are simply the best of the best, the perfect fibres to keep your little one’s body and environment safe from chemicals otherwise used in the textile process – and that’s so important to us. In the same Bodysuits and Jumpsuits, you know and love from last year, we’ve repeated our staple items for babies and older kids alike – our Long Sleeve T-Shirts and Leggings. Perfect for all the layering needs, and lazy day outfits you could ever want! This year we’ve also introduced a new size to our range, to accommodate even the smallest members of our community – newborn! This size is a true 0000, perfect for the tiniest of bubs and perfect to protect their delicate newborn skin. And just as excitingly, we’ve also added booties to our range! In the same fabric and gorgeous prints, these will keep little feet warm and toasty from 0-3 to 12-18 Months. Due to the GOTS certification, and the artisanal craft of our workers, these products meet the very highest industry standards. Our GOTS basics range has been one of our most popular for good reason – it’s lightweight, breathable, biodegradable and soft. Along with its wearable benefits, it is pesticide, insecticide and microplastic free, along with using less water to manufacture than traditional cotton. Good for you, your bub and the environment. GOTS is a certification that is super costly for a supplier or factory to obtain. As we continually work with small, family run businesses (our lovely team of manufacturers, most of which we've worked with for 9 years!) this certification has taken quite some time to obtain, and a lot of effort and change to maintain. As the demand for organic cotton has grown, and with brands both larger and smaller than us beginning to offer this product, it has allowed our suppliers to obtain this certification and access to organic fibres! We are super excited to introduce new styles to our gorgeous Organic Cotton Basics range
Happy International Womens Day to those who came before us, those who champion us today and those who are to come. Here's to understanding that strong women come in all forms; wether you're gentle, a woman of colour, brash, ambitious, athletic, caring, a member or ally of the LGBTQIA community – you’re strong, and you’re appreciated. We dedicate this post to those women. The women who put the fire in our bellies, the women who inspire action, the women who run their fingers through our hair to soothe us, the women who create magic with their finger tips. Here’s to you! Miann & Co was started by an ambitious, headstrong woman - a woman who constantly inspires us, who is creative and has an amazing mind. From the kitchen table to our warehouse and office ten years later, Miann & Co is the brainchild of our Creative Director, Bec. She started our little brand after her children, who were suffering from eczema found relief in natural fibres - that helped to calm and ease the pain and itchiness that comes with many skin conditions an allergies. She was passionate about helping her children, which extended into helping as many families as possible - and that’s where we find Miann & Co now. You’ll find all kinds of women in Miann & Co, from all walks of life. It is because of these women that we have an open, vibrant workplace. A place where we feel free to express ourselves, share our laughter and a safe space to be honest. We have Rhiannen, who is kind and quiet. When she talks she’s whisper soft, when she talks it always holds meaning. Her creativity is unrivalled. She’s always behind her computer, mind turning and concocting beautiful imagery and ideas. We love having her around. Then there’s Rachel - who is so effortlessly, wonderfully herself. Her spirit is unbridled and free, true and wild. To know her is to spend your days laughing until your stomach hurts, to have someone who revels in and encourages your own free spirit. And Beth, who has currently been with us the longest. If you need to vent, or to express yourself she has an ear and a smile to lend. She’s bright and easy to laugh, like a sparkling, wild, blonde headed light in our office. The women of Miann & Co make our office an incredibly special place to be. This International Women’s Day, we urge you to take the time out to reflect on why the women in your life make it so special, so full of light and so full of joy! All our love, Miann & Co
People and planet – that’s what lies at the very core of Miann & Co. Our values and ethos all stem from our belief in preserving our beautiful planet, and our passion for creating fair working conditions with our suppliers and manufacturers - for helping to create a culture where the sustainability of Earth and it's life is paramount. At the top tier of the manufacturing world lies a certification known as GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). To have a GOTS certification means you are making products of the highest calibre - in all regards. From the farming process, to the mill, to the manufacturer, every step is analysed to ensure it's up to code with the strict GOTS standards, which is widely known as the toughest standard in the industry today. We all know that the skin is our bodies largest organ, and due to it's porous nature it absorbs everything it comes into contact with. Most people attribute this fact to skin care, deodorants - anything that can be topically applied to the skin. However, what most people don't tend to think of is something we're surrounded by every single day. We spend almost every minute of our lives with our skin touching some kind of fibre. Wether you're wearing clothing, sleeping on bedsheets, sitting on couches and chairs, even our underwear. Have you ever taken a moment to think about what might be in those fibres, and what it may be doing to your skin, or to your little one? When you think of how synthetic fibres are made - their contribution to pollution and damaging nature aside - and what they're made from, you might want to think again before having them against your skin. Take polyester, for example. Polyester is made through a chemical reaction involving coal, petroleum (from crude oil), air and water. When processed, it is essentially a plastic - a plastic made from products you wouldn't eat, so why would you wear it if your skin is so absorbent? Where GOTS fabric is best for the planet, it's also best for you and your family. The four requirements to receive a GOTS certification are: Must contain at least 95% organic fibres Not be treated with bleach, formaldehyde or any other toxic substances Be coloured with nontoxic dyes Be produced in a mill that enforces strict social and environmental standards, treating their employees and the earth with deep respect. With GOTS, you can sleep and live safely knowing no harm is coming to the delicate skin of you and your baby. Currently in our GOTS line we only use cotton - super breathable and soft, so it's perfect for everyday wear and great for newborn and toddlers alike. Our Organic Cotton Basics Range is made from high quality fibres, harvested and manufactured in sustainable and ethical ways. These are pieces your family can love for years to come. Do you love GOTS fibres too? All our love, Miann & Co
