After a quick poll last week we discovered that you would like to hear some of our travel stories. For anyone that knows, family travel is a big priority and we consciously make decisions according to the family budget and time each year that we set aside for travel.
We travel frequently with the kids and only with the kids so we have made a conscious decision to share some of our favourite places that we have visited and where we have stayed over the many years.
One of the first places we thought we would share with you was our Trip to Yosemite park.
We had heard a lot about this beautiful park and after a whole 8-hour detour due to road closure, we finally arrived at Yosemite.
We arrived very late at night due to our detour, but the sounds, the chill and the fresh air all instantly get you excited for a few days exploring this part of the world.
Our first day we woke to a roaring river that was both beautiful and in full roaring mode you could feel the spray on your face.
We had done a food shop prior to arriving at the park and were armed with picnic food for the three days. We had been warned that the food options were limited – so the picnic option gave us more time exploring the parks as we only had three days in this beautiful part of the world.
The park was huge and we ventured on quite a few of the walking trails and explored so many of the different falls over the three days.
Upon leaving we found fields of snow and were so excited to pull over and explore. If they get the chance, our boys still talk about our visit to Yosemite. It really was nice to slow the pace on our American Road trip and take three days to walk and explore.
STAY
Yosemite View Lodge
Although the interiors where dated it was clean, breakfast was amazing and our kids loved the indoor pool after a day out exploring the parks.
We also loved that they had washing machines and dryers that we could catch up on some washing without eating into our American Road trip itinerary.
EAT
We ate at the hotel and we also did a shop at a wholefoods store prior to arriving. This allowed us to have picnic food for the three days. Exploring the park at your own pace allowed for you to stop as you please at some stunning picnic places.
SEE
We only scratched the surface of Yosemite but there are so many places to walk, sit by the lake to take in the scenery and just explore the area. There really was so much to do and we enjoyed using this part of our trip to let the boys run and explore.
